Acrylic on calico - Japanese fish print
I have had a love for fishing since I was old enough to walk. Many years ago, I saw an amazing ink style impression of a fish in a Japanese restaurant. I asked the waiter about it, and he told me it was a special type of Japanese art called Gyotaku. I researched this technique and after many hours of experimentation I developed my own style of Gyotaku based on this traditional method of fish printing. As an avid fisherman after a day on the water I take great pleasure in transferring my latest catch onto the medium of raw calico to create a ‘Fish print by Mick’.
