In October 2023 Australia had a Referendum on an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, ‘Voice to Parliament’. I personally, have spent 30 years on a quest of engagement and study to better understand our First Nations people. This major work, ‘Referendum 2023’, began in the campaigning months with hope and total commitment. As the campaign continued and the ‘Yes’ vote waned, my symbolic golden threads of bringing our nation together as one became tenuous. The threads more loose, uncertain, as finally the ‘No’ vote prevailed.
