Drawing Collage

On the surface these A4 works are exercises in drawing and composition collages.
There was no conscious theme. Right brain free association, left-hand drawing was how I approached most of the work. This childlike approach was freeing and suggestive, nature crept into the unconscious drawing. In contrast, the switch to left brain - logical, safe, right-hand drawing to finish and problem solve is evident in the finished works. Below the surface, curiously, another story was revealed. I had experienced just before I began the A4 work much
loss with family and very dear friends. Somehow, the conscious and unconscious were working together, so different, yet only on completion and reflection did I become fully aware of my story.

Those faces which just appeared, were me, the happy and sad me — yes, all me.
