ARTIST BIO

Wayne Roberts

Wayne is a tonalist painter. Painting directly from observation, sometimes through squinted eyes, and paints what he sees, in an attempt to create a “real” life effect.

He tries to give a sincere and truthful representation of the beauty of nature, and shows the charm of light and shade, which is sought by the correct use of tones, to create an illusion of realism.

As a “hobby” artist he has won first prize at the Lachlan Valley Art Show in the pastel and water colour section, Highly Commended at the Rutherglen and Newbridge art exhibitions. Peoples Choice award at Texture of One in Blayney.

Wayne has held several very successful solo exhibitions in Millthorpe.

Wayne was taught many years ago and inspired by one of the 20 Melbourne painters. Wayne uses, oils, pastels, pen and ink and pencils.
